Fucking Quad: Now What?

ad

I am in the middle of a test p and anavar cycle and today while doing squats, I tore my fucking quad. I know, rest, ice and heat probably for several weeks, but what about the cycle and all the other exercises: should I discontinue everything until the quad heals? I think, the only exercise that would be affected by the torn quad muscle would be squats. I should still be able to do deadlifts, so what do you think?

I warm-up the exact same way except for, deadlifts which I use the bar with some weight for both warm up sets and pull-ups, I don't do warm-up sets for pull-ups. I also do static stretching before and during; static stretches are ones that don't require you do hold the muscles in a stretch position. I 'll do the ones that you hold when I am done with my exercises.

Static stretches are the ones the you hold actually. Dynamic stretches I think are what you are referring to what you do before and during. I feel you on the injury man! I strained awhile back and had just gotten it rehabbed. Started my cycle and strained my traps/rhomboid. Keeping positive though, everything is getting strong and I am using this time to bump up the condition. Everything will heal up just fine man!

4/18/2012 UPDATE: Today, I said, "Fuck It", and did squats. I completed all reps and sets without any problems. I will bump up the weight a little each time until Iam back to my previous weight for squats. This is great news for me, however, on my last set of bench press, I strained my shoulder. I have ice on it right now, so hopefully it will be good in a day or two. It fucking sucks getting old.

Hang in there Johnson. I have had a string of issues ever since I hit 35 and am 41 now. Been back at it seriously for about a year and a half and when something happens take it slow. Most recently last month had a bad pinched nerve in back and locked up my whole shoulder. Doc put me on methyl prednisone and i rested for 2 weeks and knock on wood I am good now. I find with everything I have to do one warm up set with just a bar and then another warm up with light weight for pretty much everything and that seems to help a lot.

UPDATE: i was able to pound out 300lb deadlifts with absolutely no pain. however, the first couple days going up and down stairs was a bitch, but after the second day it got easier. i won't be doing squats for at least 3-4 weeks, so the strained area should have time to heal. thanks for the advice guys and if for some reason it doesn't heal in a few weeks, i will give you another update.

do nothing but upper body. In my opinion continue the cycle as it will help with the heeling of your torn quad. That is just my opinion im sure there are other inputs you will get.
