Blood pressure meds. Please help.

ad

I'm going go my doctor today and I wand to get some new blood pressure medicine. I currently take catapres, Clonadine hcl. It causes major rebound pressure problems which I think wakes me up in the middle of the night and causes my pressure to be high as the dose wears off during the day. It also makes me tired and gives me a dry mouth. So....

What's the best blood pressure med for pressure increases caused by taking AAS and genetics. I don't want it to affect my lifting by making me tired or weak. Is there anything good out there? Norvasc makes me hold water, hydralazine doesn't work, and I think that's all I've tried. Any suggestions at all?

Thanks.

BigB, I take Micardis and have really good luck with it. It is said that it has similar effects to gw501516 in increasing endurance and may help with fat loss. It's really the only bp medication I know of that increases endurance. It also has a 24hr half life so you shouldn't see the spikes in bp you're seeing with your current med. All you gotta do is google micardis increase endurance/ fat loss and research away homie ;)

Meds are double edged swords bro they'll fix one problem and kill you somewhere else

Isn't that the truth! +2

I take Lisinopril and haven't noticed any dry mouth. Something else you might consider is investigating over the counter meds that help to increase nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is produced naturally in the body and what it does is increase the elasticity of the blood vessels which increases blood flow and reduces pressure in the arteries. After many months of my own investigating of this subject I have come up with l-citrulline which converts to l-arganine in the body which increases nitric oxide. They sell l-arganine at many health food stores but this is useless as it never makes it into the body past the digestive tract and liver while l-citrulline does. Another nutritional supplement is Nitrates. Nitrates also increase the nitric oxide in the body, I use potassium nitrate, but you can also eat a lot of spinach and drink pure beet root juice as these are loaded with nitrates.
My blood pressure was running 135/75 with lisinopril, which isn't bad but it kept fluctuating up and down, I started using these two supplements and it has leveled out and I took my BP last night and it was 118/66, much better than in the past. And that's with me on 200mg test e per week for trt.
As always. YMMV. Smile

First line therapy is usually a beta-blocker. I use toprol and have minimal sides- just a slide drag in cardio performance. 2nd line is usually a diuretic like HCTZ, unless you're black in which these drugs work better in and are more often first line. Ultimately I think you should be honest with your doctor about your AAS use and follow their recommendation. Hypertension is nothing to F with and if you are having chronic elevated BP you need to seriously consider to cut out or limit your AAS use.
