Blood pressure meds. Please help.
ad
I'm going go my doctor today and I wand to get some new blood pressure medicine. I currently take catapres, Clonadine hcl. It causes major rebound pressure problems which I think wakes me up in the middle of the night and causes my pressure to be high as the dose wears off during the day. It also makes me tired and gives me a dry mouth. So....
What's the best blood pressure med for pressure increases caused by taking AAS and genetics. I don't want it to affect my lifting by making me tired or weak. Is there anything good out there? Norvasc makes me hold water, hydralazine doesn't work, and I think that's all I've tried. Any suggestions at all?
Thanks.

BigBmajThis is pharma summed up. I take catapres for high blood pressure, but it dries my mouth. So then my teeth start to decay like they never have before, never even had a cavity. The bacteria on my teeth travels to the heart and eventually causes plaque and myocardial infarction.
I could have cut my sodium, AAS, used apple cider vinegar, and done some cardio. But I got a pill and it will end up killing me. But not before I develop 15 other problems that each require a script.
God that's depressing. That reminds me I forgot to take my lexapro today, maybe I should add lyrica?!
BigB, I take Micardis and have really good luck with it. It is said that it has similar effects to gw501516 in increasing endurance and may help with fat loss. It's really the only bp medication I know of that increases endurance. It also has a 24hr half life so you shouldn't see the spikes in bp you're seeing with your current med. All you gotta do is google micardis increase endurance/ fat loss and research away homie ;)
BigBmajStuff sounds amazing. Ill certainly look into it. Thanks.
ZewiAnabolXDid you know 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar each day can help lower blood pressure by 20 points alone.
AnonBoom!! +2
Ill try that
BigBmajI did know it worked well for blood pressure. And I had just run out, I wonder if that's part of the reason it was so abnormally high.
Ill grab another bottle. It's a full time job trying to remember all the stuff I'm supposed to take everyday.
Thanks.
I have never used any myself but I know a lot of people using Lisinopril by AstraZeneca.
56tooI take Lisinopril 10mg. I dont evenn know what it is but its a minimal dose . I am geneticaly predisposed to HBP and this keeps it in check.I dont think I get any sides with it. Years ago I was on heavy doses of medss when I was really out of shape and I use to experience a bunch of sides including ED, dry mouth and you name it. If you're taking heavy doses you're usually gonna have some sides IMO. Meds are double edged swords bro they'll fix one problem and kill you somewhere else
AnonI take the same thing. Lisinopril 10mg. I run some good sized cycles and even on my big doses I don't ever go above 140/90 which for a couple of grams on cycle is good. My average of say is probably 135/80 on cycle. On my cruise dose I am fixed at 130/75. No sides I can think of either brudda. I've been very happy with my experience with Lisinopril.
Isn't that the truth! +2
56tooThe truth bro. I had Gastric bi-pass surgery 5 years ago because of all the medical issues I had including diabetes. When you go for surgery you sign a waiver allowing the surgeon to take biopsy samples if they feel something is wrong and of course what better time to do it than when you're out cold and they're in there anyways. Well, the day after the surgery he came in and told me he had taken a piece of my liver to do a biopsy . He said I was damn near having cirrhosis. I thought it was cause I use to be a big party man. He assured me it wasn't it was all the fucking meds I had been taking for 30 years!!!!! So yeah, I didnt have HBP or very high cholesterol but it was killing me through my liver LOL.
AnonI just started the lisonopril last week, and have had a lot of dry mouth. I didnt put 2+2 together till last night . Have you ever experienced that side on lisonopril ?
I take Lisinopril and haven't noticed any dry mouth. Something else you might consider is investigating over the counter meds that help to increase nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is produced naturally in the body and what it does is increase the elasticity of the blood vessels which increases blood flow and reduces pressure in the arteries. After many months of my own investigating of this subject I have come up with l-citrulline which converts to l-arganine in the body which increases nitric oxide. They sell l-arganine at many health food stores but this is useless as it never makes it into the body past the digestive tract and liver while l-citrulline does. Another nutritional supplement is Nitrates. Nitrates also increase the nitric oxide in the body, I use potassium nitrate, but you can also eat a lot of spinach and drink pure beet root juice as these are loaded with nitrates.
My blood pressure was running 135/75 with lisinopril, which isn't bad but it kept fluctuating up and down, I started using these two supplements and it has leveled out and I took my BP last night and it was 118/66, much better than in the past. And that's with me on 200mg test e per week for trt.
As always. YMMV.
56tooYou know, I really cant say I have. I remember taking a HBP med once and the shit made me have a constant cough. At one point I didn't even notice I was coughing all the time I had become so accustomed to it.
First line therapy is usually a beta-blocker. I use toprol and have minimal sides- just a slide drag in cardio performance. 2nd line is usually a diuretic like HCTZ, unless you're black in which these drugs work better in and are more often first line. Ultimately I think you should be honest with your doctor about your AAS use and follow their recommendation. Hypertension is nothing to F with and if you are having chronic elevated BP you need to seriously consider to cut out or limit your AAS use.
BigBmajI'm taking very conservative doses of AAS. only time my BP is low is when I'm 70 lbs lighter and running every day. It's high with or without AAS at this weight. I went to cardiologist and be said my heart is looking good but my left ventricle is a little big so pressure will be high no matter what.
I am honest with my doctor. I was just wondering what medicines work best with heavy training.
Thanks
